Beautiful Holy Mass last Sunday in Northeast Missouri -- beginning our
3RD YEAR of Sunday Masses. We thank Father Arnaud Devillers, who
celebrated Mass. Today is indeed another big ANNIVERSARY day for the
Latin Mass Society of Northeast Missouri. It was 4 years ago TODAY that
Father Devillers, Father Robert Fromageot and a joyful contingency of
Quincy Catholics brought the very first Traditional Mass (a Solemn High
Mass, no less) in nearly 50 years to Northeast Missouri. A record
250+ people showed up for Mass in -5 degree wind chill on a Thursday
night at Mary Immaculate Church in Kirksville. Inexplicably, the local pastor said, 'We ain't doing that again!' So, we found ourselves banished from parish churches. We thank all who made that first Holy Mass a reality -- but especially Father Devillers. From that very first Mass, to our banishment to steamy-hot Outdoor Masses in the country, to frigid-cold Masses in a cabin in the woods, to our landing at St. Rose in Novinger, Father has never said 'NO' to bringing us Our Lord's Holy Mass. His example is what Christ would have done. Please say a prayer for this good priest who shepherded us, then and now. |
