Driving through the early morning fog of snow-covered Northern Missouri,
it was surely a special morning for Candlemas at St. Joseph's Church in
Trenton. Father Kevin Drew hosted LMS members and some of his own
parishioners for the Feast of the PURIFICATION OF MARY. The Feast
commemorates the day Our Blessed Mother was presented in the temple for
purification, 40 days after she gave birth –- traditionally, the end of
the Christmas season. The Holy Mass was
preceded by the “blessing of the
candles” and a moving candlelit procession by priest, Altar servers,
and the laity into church. The Mass was celebrated by candlelight.
Some of the faithful were assisting at their first- ever Latin Mass!
Thank
you, Father Drew. LMS members, Mark Cowan, his son Andrew, along with one additional
volunteer, are progressing with the delicate, pain-staking craftsmanship
in renovating the original gate of the Communion Rail of St. Rose of
Lima Church in Novinger for the Traditional Mass. How beautiful it is!
We are so grateful to these good men for donating their 'free' time to
this project. Although it will take some time, the Communion Rail is on
its way to being restored to its proper position in the Sanctuary. Deo
gratias! |
